EMDR Therapy for
Fears and Phobias
Specialized, Evidence-Based Trauma Therapy so You Can Get Back to Life
EMDR Therapy for Fears & Phobias
Fear and anxiety can begin to shape your life in ways that feel limiting, exhausting, and frustrating. Whether it is avoiding the dentist, feeling panic before medical procedures, experiencing fear while driving, or freezing during public speaking, these reactions are not simply “in your head.” Often, they are rooted in unresolved experiences stored within the nervous system.
Using specialized EMDR trauma therapy, we work directly with the underlying memories, nervous system responses, and emotional patterns that keep fear and phobias active. This is a focused, short-term approach designed to help your brain and body process and resolve the fear at its source — so you can move forward with greater calm, confidence, and freedom.
This service is designed for individuals experiencing fears and phobias such as:
Dental anxiety
Medical anxiety or fear of procedures
Driving or automobile anxiety
Public speaking anxiety
Fear related to past traumatic experiences
Situational panic or avoidance behaviours
As the unresolved trauma is processed, many clients experience reduced anxiety, greater emotional regulation, improved confidence, and the ability to approach previously triggering situations with more ease and calm.
Because trauma and nervous system responses are unique to each individual, the structure of therapy is tailored to your personal history, needs, and goals. However, I generally recommend a focused intensive format consisting of:
1 Assessment & Treatment Planning Session
4 EMDR Reprocessing Sessions (this can vary depending on personal needs)
1 Final Integration Session
All sessions are 90 minutes in length and are typically scheduled within a short period of time (approximately 10 days) to support deeper processing, continuity, and lasting results.
“Healing is not about forcing yourself through overwhelm. It is about creating enough safety, support, and nervous system regulation for your brain and body to begin letting go of what no longer needs to be carried. You will not be doing this alone..”
-Andrea
Who is EMDR Therapy for?
This two‑session intensive may be a good fit if:
You experience significant anxiety, fear, panic, or avoidance related to specific situations such as dental visits, medical procedures, driving, or public speaking.
You recognize that your reactions feel bigger than the situation itself, and may be connected to past experiences, trauma, or nervous system overwhelm.
You’re looking for a focused, solution-oriented approach that works beyond talk therapy to help resolve the fear at its source.
You’re willing to engage in a brief, concentrated therapy process that includes multiple 90-minute sessions scheduled close together to support deeper healing and integration.
EMDR may not be the right first step if you’re in immediate crisis, struggling with suicidal thoughts, or dealing with severe instability in other areas of your life. In those cases, we would typically begin with ongoing 1–1 therapy first and consider EMDR when you have more stability and support.
And remember, you can always contact your local hospital or crisis line for immediate support. Resources for Toronto Area Here

Why I do this work
I understand firsthand how deeply trauma can shape our relationship with our bodies, our health, and the world around us.
After the birth of my son, I experienced medical trauma that left me carrying intense anxiety around healthcare settings, medical professionals, and even my own physical sensations. Pain, weakness, or unfamiliar sensations in my body could quickly spiral into fear and hypervigilance. Later, I experienced significant dental trauma after a botched dental implant procedure that required multiple corrective treatments. What should have been routine became emotionally overwhelming.
EMDR therapy was a turning point in my healing.
It helped me process the trauma stored within my nervous system so I could stop living in a constant state of anticipation, fear, and survival. As the trauma resolved, I found myself able to approach medical and dental care with greater calm, clarity, and self-trust. I could advocate for myself without panic. My body no longer felt like something to fear. The anxiety became manageable instead of consuming, and those experiences stopped haunting my daily life.
This work is deeply personal to me because I know how exhausting and limiting these fears can become — and I also know that healing is possible.
Today, I support others in resolving fears and phobias rooted in trauma, whether related to medical experiences, dental procedures, driving, public speaking, or other overwhelming events. My approach combines specialized EMDR therapy with deep respect for the uniqueness of each person’s nervous system, history, and pace of healing.
My goal is not simply to help you “cope better,” but to help you reclaim a sense of safety, confidence, self-leadership, and freedom in your life again.
